A Passion for Pottery

/

Growing up, I yearned for something that was my own. I went through almost every phase you can imagine. I was an avid athlete and played many different sports. Though, sports never kept me interested for very long. This led to me looking into art.

During my freshman year of high school, I took my first art class. It was a basic class going over most of the art mediums. The only thing we didn’t do was throw on the wheel. It was something that I watched the older kids do and I envied them. The year went by and I got my chance. I enrolled in the ceramics class at my high school. The teacher was amazing and taught me so much about the art of pottery. Sadly, the year was cut short by COVID-19, but I knew pottery was something I truly loved. It was different than all the hobbies I had done growing up. It was something I would never get tired of. So, I talked to my dad and we made a plan to bring the studio home. I found a kiln from an amazing new friend and a wheel off of the marvelous, Facebook marketplace. That year with the help of my family my pottery dream came to life.

This was the beginning of it all. Now I have a website where I am able to list all of my products for anyone to see. I am well involved in a community of artists and I find myself meeting new people all the time because of our shared passion. Art shows are a normal occurrence and getting to share the art I love most with the world has been so fulfilling. Thanks for taking the time to read about my passion for pottery! What are you passionate about?
